Hiya, just recently I posted an Easter Butterfly Cakes video and found to my surprise that you all loved it and wanted more. This is a video that I posted some time back now with a recipe for Bread and Butter Pudding.

BBPThumb Video

I thought I would post up on my blog so that all these Bake Date videos are in the same place and easy to find. So here is my Bake Date With Lolli Bread & Butter Pudding video:-

Now Im afraid there are no photos of this one as it was not my intent to post on here, but there will be in future Bake Dates. However here is the recipe if you want a quick written reminder:-

  • 6 – 8 Slices of Bread – preferably a bit stale (not green or blue though lol)  so great for using up leftovers

  • Butter as required

  • Marmalade – optional

  • 1 pint Milk

  • 2 x Eggs

  • Dried Mixed Fruit (or Sultanas)

  • Demerara Sugar

  • Castor Sugar

  1. Make ‘Custard’ by beating 2 eggs into the milk. If you want to make a bigger or smaller Pudding it is approx 1 egg per 1/2 pint of Milk.

  2. Butter your slices of Bread, add Marmalade if desired

  3. Cut Slices in half on the Diagonal

  4. Start layering your oven proof dish as follows: Buttered Bread, Fruit, Sugar and then back to the Bread etc til all used up.

  5. Gently pour the Custard over the Bread layers and allow to absorb into Bread for minimum of 1/2 hour.

  6. Once bread is soaked pop into oven and bake at 180c for approx 45mins or until golden brown

  7. Eat and Enjoy!

This size that I made here I think does 4 generous portions. If you don’t eat it all the first day it is great reheated. We like ours with Custard too. So that is it for todays Bake Date with me lol, I hope you enjoyed, and for now hugs and have a great craft/baking day,
