Hiya, today I have made a Stampin Up Butterfly Basics Card for you using some of my gorgeous new products from Stampin Up – Butterfly Basics stamp set, Watercolour Wash stamp set, Mint Macaron Card and ribbon, other luscious ink pads, plus a few extras of my own such as Martha Stewart punches and some glitter. After all whats is a girly card without glitter! lol!

So to start I took some Whisper White card and did my stamping. from that I decided on my card and its colours. So for the stamping I had quite a narrow piece of whisper white but still decided to stamp onto it with the Watercolour Wash stamp set in the Pool Party ink. As all my ink pads are still so new I often ‘stamp off’ first onto scrap paper then stamp onto my card. That way it gives a truer representation of the actual colour of the ink, cos when it is so new the ink is so strong that it just comes out ridiculously dark and no real tonal values to it.

Anyway next I took the Smokey Slate ink pad and the mesh stamp from the Butterfly Basics stamp set and stamped that twice vertically down the left hand side. Followed at the very far left by the twirly stripe border stamp from the Butterfly Basics stamp set in the Night of Navy which I ‘stamp off’ twice before stamping onto my card.

Next again from the Butterfly Basics stamp set I stamped the fern stamp twice over to the right about 1/3 from the bottom of the card piece. I did not ‘stamp off’ on this as I wanted the colour to be really intense. Next I took the stem from the Butterfly Basics with the flowers on tops. I used Old Olive ink on the stems and leaves and the flowers in Perfect Plum. Once stamped I then used a paint brush which I picked up some ink from the ink pad and filled in some of the flowers to give them a little depth. I then took the Crushed Curry ink and added that to the centre of the flowers.

I then took Smokey Slate ink and the post mark from Butterfly Basics and stamped that in the top left corner.

Then on a separate piece of Whisper White I stamped the lace Butterfly from the Butterfly Basics stamp set in Pink Pirouette, I then cut it out by hand since I do not have the dies that go with this set. Then using two Martha Stewart Butterfly punches I punched one butterfly in Pink Pirouette and Mint Macaroon.

Finally before attaching the butterflies and adding the ribbon I stamped the sentiment from the Trust God stamp set in Night of navy, which I stamped directly onto the the card.

The stamped piece was then put to one side while I made the card base. I took a piece to the beautiful Pink Pirouette and cut it to make an A6 card (approx 6″ x 4′) I then took about 1″inch off the front opening side. Next I took a piece of the mint Macaroon that I had previously punched with a scallop punch, and added this to where the piece of pink had been removed to make a complete card.

Once the card base was made I went back to my stamped piece to complete, I added the ribbons – the mint macaroon dotty ribbon and the pink pirouette thin cotton ribbon. I then attached the stamped piece to the card base and then I added the butterflies and finally the finishing touch of glitter and pearls!

So that is it our Stampin Up Butterfly Basics Card and I hope you like it and would love for you to leave me a comment. I know stamping of this style is quite different to my norm and therefore I hope you like my new venture. But for now hugs and have a great craft day,
