Hiya, well it’s that time of month again for our Simon Says Stamp Monthly Card Kit posts. Today is our photo post and tomorrow is the video post. But don’t forget that there are also exclusive cards made from this kit on my Instagram. So to the actual kit this month, we are now on the December kit and as you can see from the photograph below it includes some fabulous items. I’m so super excited to get going and start making cards from this kit and yet again I think this one might be my favourite so far! sssIMG_8544But then again I’ve said that each time and I’ve already seen a sneak peak of January’s kit and I’m thinking that might well be my favourite too! LOL!

So today’s card I was going to take the white piece of card however I had already use that for the card that I have made in this video you will see tomorrow. So rather then change the design was in my head because I was so keen to try this design I took an A4 piece of white card stock from Crafters Companion. I know it’s technically cheating because the idea of the series is to only use products that have come from the kit, however it is just white card stock and it was in the kit originally so I kind of thought it’s only like a little mini cheat and so I hope you will let me get away with this one least! Lol!

Anyway I cut my A4 down to 11 inches by 5 1/2 inches. I then scored and folded it at the 5 1/2 inch mark to create a 5 1/2 in square card base.  Next I took my corner chomper and just rounded the bottom two corners of my cardbase. As normal I had my square card as a top folding card. This months card kit is particularly focused on embossing and includes two embossing powders plus a mini distress embossing Ink. On this card therefore I wanted to use the embossing powders however I wasn’t sure which of the two I wanted to use. I therefore did a quick test to watch of the enchanted gold as I had already used the platinum on the previous card I made – which is actually the card that you will see tomorrow in the video. Having seen both colours I decided to use the platinum for this card too.

I took the polka dots stamp from the stamp set that came in the kit and randomly, but carefully, radiated the polka dots out from the bottom left hand corner. I knew later that I would be adding to and filling any gaps with the gorgeous sequins that were also included in the kit. As always before stamping with the embossing ink I used my anti static powder over the card to ensure I got a nice clean and sharp embossed image, with no extra little bits from finger marks etc. I then sprinkled on my embossing powder and heated from underneath to create nice smooth embossed dots.

Next i took a little piece of the vellum included in the kit and stamped the ‘sparkle and shine’ sentiment – no border just the sentiment, embossing with the Platinum powder again. I then took two circle dies from my spellbinders set one size apart from each other. I took the smaller one of the two and die cut an aperture in the top right corner of the card, before I cut this aperture I had stamped and embossed the stitched circle stamp in this corner and used the inside of this as my size guide for my dies. I then took the larger of the two and die cut around the sparkle and shine sentiment.  Then I carefully used my tape pen around the outer edge of the front of the vellum and stuck it to the inside of the card with the right side of the sentiment facing out.

Finally I randomly added some of the sequins just to add that bit of sparkle and fill in any gaps in the embossed polka dots. And here is the first finished card from our Simon Says Stamp December Card Kit I hope you like 🙂
