Hiya, today I have back our favourite little mouse for you – yes he is back, the cute little House Mouse! In todays card he is filling his belly with summer fayre and since we haven’t done any for ages, todays cards technique is decoupage.

I thought it would be fun for todays card to find a gorgeous summery pre-printed decoupage sheet from the summer House Mouse pack courtesy of Joanna Sheen. Now I have to say I dont know if these pre-printed sheets are made any more but Im sure you would be able to find the image on one of the House Mouse Cd Roms and print it out yourself. The sheet was only printed out and not die cut so I had the fun of cutting it all out myself. Now dont panic I dont show all the cutting out in the video as I didn’t want to send you to sleep lol! However I did spend a short amount of time just having a quick run through of some decoupage basics in case you are new to it. However the whole video is under 15 mins so it really wasnt much time on it just in case you are experienced in decoupage and think that means the video isn’t for you. The focus is very much on the card. Speaking of which lets get going, so here is my House Mouse Summer Decoupage Card video:-

Now just before we go to the photos of the card, I thought it might be useful to give you the measurements of the various mats and layers:-

  • Yellow Card Base was A5
  • Green Pattern Layer 5 3/4″ x 8″
  • House Mouse image 4 1/4″ x 5 3/4″
  • House Mouse Green Card Mat 4 1/2″ x 6″
  • House Mouse Yellow Card Mat 4 3/4″ x 6 1/4″

So I hope that helped they are only approximate measurements as A5, being a4 folded in half, a strange set of dimensions and it never quite works out evenly so this is just the best estimate of what I did as really it was mostly by eye.  Anyway now as always to the photos of the finished card:

So that is it for todays card, I hope you enjoyed. I know it is only one video a week at the moment but I am working on something which is great for me and I am super excited to share with you all when I have it ready. I hope you are going to love this surprise as much as me lol! So for now hugs and have a great craft day,

  1. So cute! The papers you selected are perfect, so bright and cheerful. One of the first videos I found of yours was House Mouse…oh the memories!

    • I know such lovely colours aren’t they? I forgot about the first video you saw was house mouse – gosh that was a while ago xx

  2. I know this is an older video of yours, but I just now saw it for the first time. What a wonderful card! I agree with Cathy – the colors & papers you chose are simply *perfect* for that image!!! I love House Mouse! I bought the HM Decoupage CD from Joanna Sheen not long ago – such a fantastic collection! And I am SO glad to see the scissors you use! I have that exact pair of scissors & love using them also. But I thought that *everyone* used either a tiny pair of “decoupage scissors” or a craft knife, so I felt as if I were “doing things slightly wrong” by using a larger scissors LOL! I appreciate the tip about slanting the blades – I wasn’t aware of that & I’m going to do that from now on! Thanks for a great video & for teaching me a few good tips! I still struggle with those tiny tails sometimes! But the finished items are well worth the effort!

    • Ahh Nickie what a lovely comment you left me thank you – and I love getting comments on here too (I love them on Youtube but on here I love to know that people have managed to make their way over to the site as there is so much more on here – and lots more still to add as been having a rethink of how best to do both my video and photo library so that will be completed soonish and look a lot better) Yes I tend to use larger scissors as I think they give a smoother cut as the length in the blade stops that chop chop look in the cut around the edge, and please if something works for you, even if no-one else does it, then it is all good, never worry yourself about that. So thank you again and so glad you liked the card and for taking the trouble to leave such a lovely comment xx
